CHRIS COYNE

Detective Chris Coyne (Retired) is a 23 year veteran of the Troy Police Department.  He served the community and the Triad School District as the D.A.R.E Officer for 20 years, during which time he instructed approximately 7,000 5th and 6th grade students about the harmful effects of drugs and the importance of good decision making.  He is a 13 year member of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis where he investigated 22 homicide investigations throughout the metro east area.  He served as the advisor to the Troy Police Explorer post for 8 years, mentoring teenagers considering a career in law enforcement.  In 2012, Detective Coyne developed FIGHTIN' THE STRUGGLE, a very powerful and emotional heroin and prescription drug abuse presentation that he has delivered to over 36,000 students, teachers, school administrators and parents at numerous community events.  His presentation has received attention from numerous news media sources, as well as coverage from a senior video journalist from the New York Times. 

 

 

 

 

 

DR. KARI KARIDIS

Dr. Kari Karidis is a twenty-year veteran in education. She obtained her doctorate in Educational Leadership from St. Louis University in 2007. Within the treatment community, she serves as a crisis interventionist, recovery support specialist, and resource coordinator. Additionally, she conducts parent education classes, patient education classes, and treatment/psycho-therapy groups. She has presented to over 30,000 students since the 2014-15 school year. She has taken coursework on addiction and treatment and established a non-profit, Companion's Companion, to assist those with addiction and their loved ones. Dr. Karidis has seen and experienced what addiction is doing to students, families, schools and communities.
